학교소개
맨체스터 메트로폴리탄 대학교는 영국에서 가장 규모가 큰 대학 중의 한 곳이다. Manchester 중앙에 있는 캠퍼스는 영국에서 가장 큰 고등교육 기관을 형성하고 있는데, 유럽에서도 가장 넓은 교육 기관에 속한다. 맨체스터는 일곱 개의 학부로 구성되는데 Art&design 에는 3,500명의 학생들이 재학하고 있으며 다양한 학과를 제공하고 있다. 미술대학은 Manchester school of art라 불리우며 1838년에 근원을 둔 170년의 역사를 자랑하는 미술대학이다. Manchester School of Art는 Benzie Buildling이라는 건물에 위치되어 있으며 이 빌딩에 모든 미술 관련 전공들이 운영중에 있다. 오랜 역사만큼 Studio에는 역사적인 미술 도구와 최신식 시설이 겸비하고 있으며 넓은 Studio와 담당 Tutor들로 학생들의 학업 향상에 큰 도움을 주고 있다. 특별히 MA Design Lab 과정은 1년 동안 맨체스터 여러 산업체에서 프로젝트를 진행하는 Lab형식으로 졸업 이후 영국에서 취업을 원하는 학생들에게 적합한 학과 과정이라 할 수 있겠다. 유명 졸업생으로 Peter Saville, Malcolm Garrett, Michael Brennand Wood, Martin Parr, Liam Spencer등이 있으며, ‘Visible Signs' 책으로 유명한 그래픽 디자이너 David Crow 교수가 학장을 역임하고 있다.
